MELBOURNE ARTIST RACHEL RAI ANNOUNCES THE DEBUT OF HER NEW SHOW ‘MANXIOUS’
After making it through to the finals of the Queensland Short+Sweet festival with an initial 10 minute development, Rachel Rai debuts the full cabaret of ‘Manxious’ as part of the first Melbourne Cabaret Fringe Festival Hub at the home Melbourne cabaret, The Butterfly Club.
Co-written by the geniusly funny Michael Nicholson (SBS Online), with the talented Ian Andrew in the role of Musical Director, this self-deprecating cabaret pop-ode explores the extreme highs and lows of everyday anxieties. Armed with a snazzy three piece, you’ll barely recognise these songs after Rai beats them into shape in this unstuffy performance. Cabaret at its rawest and freshest.
‘Rachel commanded the stage and has an exceptionally strong and versatile voice. A gifted comedian and there were considerable laughs at her ingenious original material.’
